Rajadamnern and MBK

Yup, that’s me at MBK eating a “fresh” coconut.

Over the past couple of days, we have had some awesome training, tasty food, and witnessed some great fights.  On Wednesday night, we met up with our friend Alex, from Sityodtong out in Pasadena.  Alex moved out here to Thailand to live every foreign Nak Muay’s dream.  We only knew that he had trained out at Lookphrabat, the camp Kru Nokweed is from, up in Sara-Buri.  Kru said he didn’t think that Alex stayed out there, but apparently he has been sleeping on the floor over there for the past 2 months and training.  We were told that we would get sick if we stayed out there, so I don’t know how he is doing it.  I guess we will find out when we head up to train there next week.

We met up with Alex at Rajadamnern Stadium here in Bangkok, some of the fighters from Lookphrabat were fighting.  Rajadamnern is one of the bigger boxing stadiums here in Bangkok, and it was our first time going there.  Alex got us a good deal on tickets for the fight, as he knew the promoter for the night.  We got to talk about his life so far our here, and we even talked about a potential fight for me up in Sara-Buri at one of the more rural stadiums. ;)

We parted ways with Alex after the fights and got home for some good sleep as it was late and we wouldn’t be able to get up the next day for morning training.

The next day, we decided to head out to MBK, one of the biggest shopping centers in Asia and sometimes the sole destination for people heading to Bangkok.  There are 8 floors of international shopping and dining, we only got to explore the first 2 as we had to get back for afternoon training at Sasiprapa.  But before we did that, we got some tasty food to give us energy for training in the afternoon.

What you see here, is baked rice in a pineapple.  *drooling*
We are sitting down to a nice post-morning meal, and my food just got here.  We will be heading out to the beach for the weekend and get in a training session at Fairtex.  Will be a good way to end the first week out here.
Hope everyone is doing good!

  1. Shopping center? I know how much you love to shop ;) Pineapple looks tasty! Really overcast here.

My mother knows me all to well, as I hate shopping.

We are having some rain ourselves, but that is normal for this time of year in Bangkok.

Good stuff Jon. Hope you brought Cipro if you head up there. Alcohol wipes help. Grapefruitseed extract as well. (GSE with the red cross on it) in water.

All I have to say is…. MMMMMMMMM! That looks amazing…

Thanks for doing this Pu’u, it’s so nice to read and see what you guys are up to on your adventure!
